I dunno ... I rock :P
After several months of nonstop work, the new DeskMod is now complete! Made up of nearly 20,000 lines of code and executing in well under half a second, DeskMod is more complete and faster than ever. Nearly seven months ago the site was forced to shut down due to major data loss and thanks to some very kind people and very hard work is now returning. Prior to closing, DeskMod had a very strong user base of over 25,000 individuals and had an archive with 20,000 mods. Since the reopening announcement we have launched a temporary upload page through which we have started the rebuilding process of our archive. We hope that with your help we can quickly rebuild to the point we were at before closing and go well beyond.

The new DeskMod has been in development since August of this year, and has been a total rewrite. Every feature has been entirely re-thought, re-designed, and re-coded. The two primary goals were to make DeskMod not just a great site in general, but more specifically a great desktop modification site. This involved creating a totally new rating system, redesigning every component of the page to make browsing for mods easier and more efficient, plus many other aspects. The second large goal was to make the site much more understandable and usable. In prior version of DeskMod the navigation and organization was not nearly as good as it could have been, and we made sure to fix these problems in the new version of the site. Version 3 of DeskMod also builds upon the features for which DeskMod is best known, such as our IntraSite Messaging (ISM) system, ChatterBox, ModBasket, and site modification abilities. We continue to work equally as hard to keep the site moving forward by implementing new ideas and making the existing features more functional. We’re very proud of what we’ve accomplished, and we hope you enjoy visiting the site.

With the new site being completed, the server setup and online, and the last minute details taken care of, we are proud to announce that DeskMod will be opening on Wednesday, December 12th of this year at 7pm Central Standard Time. As always, we will be hosting an IRC party on irc.deskmod.com in #deskmod. We urge everyone to be there and help us celebrate in the re-launch of DeskMod. The launch celebration will begin at 6pm and go until 9pm. We look forward to seeing everyone at both the party and at DeskMod!
